Although the move to more digital consultations may have some positive outcomes for young people’s health, it may also create some issues.  Digital medical consultations may not suit all.  We need to ensure that provision is driven by young people’s needs.  Retaining choice and control over how to consult will be critical.

AYPH has joined with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and the Royal College of GPs to issue this joint statement on the importance of making sure that any adoption of long-term changes as a result of Covid-19 service adaptations is done with young people’s specific needs in mind.

The statement is published simultaneously with a British Medical Journal blog by two of the authors, Dr Emma Parish of Young People’s Health Special Interest Group at the RCPCH, and Dr Marian Davis of the Adolescent Health Group at the RCGP.
