AYPH is working in partnership with the International Centre at the University of Bedfordshire on a research project that will run until 2020. Learning from the Experts will explore what helps and what hinders the mental health and wellbeing of young people who have been affected by sexual violence in adolescence using participatory action research.
We will run workshops with 30-40 young people in small groups that explore the concepts of wellbeing and resilience. Data will be collected throughout that increase our understanding of what emotional wellbeing after sexual violence means to the participants and how young people can be best supported. Staff from the International Centre will also work with parents/carers and professionals. All of these groups will work together to develop creative resources that aid other professionals to better meet the needs of young people affected by sexual violence. AYPH will also be contributing to a literature review, dissemination of the final resources and quality assurance throughout the project.
AYPH and the International Centre previously worked together on the acclaimed Be Healthy project and we are very pleased to be working in partnership with them again.
